Dutch art-rock outfit Lewsberg have shared an earnest new snippet in 'Sweets'. Stripped right back to an un-effected electric guitar and a metronome, the strength of the group's songwriting stands up as vocalist Arie van Vliet's engaging melodies and unpretentious lyricism make for a satisfying listen. Whilst it's relatively easy to see why this band have drawn comparisons to The Velvet Underground time and time again, there's something confident and refreshing about their approach that sets them aside from both their influences and contemporaries. Having recently secured an enviable support slot for Pavement in Europe, Lewsberg will be bringing their road-worn live show to the UK later this month, starting in Margate on the 18th (November). -Holly Mullineaux
